Barbra Sonnen-Hernandez

has been an Interior Stylist and Decorator for over 40 years. She wanted to ​share her expertise to the next generation of creative home designers and ​those who love decorating by teaching classes providing the training and ​hands on ability it takes to be successful. She also currently teaches at the ​Academy, Home Styling, Home Staging, Display and Self-Paced Electives.

To receive a Certificate. You must complete of your choice 4 of the following classes and one Elective listed below. Receiving a Certificate will get you a ​professional job in taking these courses or start your own business. If you are not interested in pursuing a Certificate, you may choose any of the classes you ​would like to take.

Our Electives are Self-Paced classes. You can also take as many of the Electives and other Classes of interest to you. We strongly recommend that the ​more classes you take, will definitely provide you with more education, skills and training in this career.

Employment

We work with outside vendors and sometimes receive calls from clients who are interested in hiring our students to get the experience added to their portfolio ​and resume. Sometimes we do demonstrations at home stores which is non-pay but helps the student apply their hands on skills. This is always an excellent ​time for them to network with the public and possibly get hired. It’s also a great opportunity for photos to build their portfolios, resume and Social Media ​networks.

Carolyn Todd

Sketching 1 & 2

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas in Austin. I ​continued my education in the Fine Arts by receiving a Master of Humanities in ​Fine Arts degree from the University of Houston. I have taught art classes for the ​Contemporary Art Museum in Houston, the Fitchburg Art Museum, the Worcester ​Art Museum in Massachusetts, and Fitchburg State University. In prior years, I ​taught Fine Arts in Austin ISD and Georgetown ISD. I currently teach in Sun City ​and soon in the Cultural Activities Center in Temple.
